Pakistan violates ceasefire at Jammu Kashmir LoC
The Indian Army has accused the Pakistan Army of breaching the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Tuesday. According to officials, Pakistan initiated “unprovoked gunfire,” violating the truce in the Krishna Ghati sector.
While no casualties were reported on the Indian side, intelligence sources indicated that five Pakistani soldiers sustained injuries following an explosion and the ensuing exchange of fire. “On April 1, 2025, an incursion by the Pakistan Army led to a landmine detonation in Krishna Ghati. This was followed by unprovoked firing, violating the ceasefire,” stated Jammu-based defence PRO Lt Col Suneel Bartwal.
He further mentioned that Indian forces exercised restraint while effectively countering the attack. “Our troops responded in a measured and strategic manner. The situation remains stable and under continuous surveillance,” he added.
The Indian Army reaffirmed its dedication to upholding peace along the LoC, in accordance with the 2021 DGsMO agreement. However, this latest transgression follows a similar incident last month, where Pakistani forces attempted to shield militants attempting to infiltrate.
Pakistan has a history of violating the ceasefire pact. Notable instances include a deadly exchange of fire in Akhnoor on September 11, which claimed the life of a BSF soldier, and another breach in November 2023, when Pakistan Rangers killed an Indian trooper in Samba.
