Palakkad colony mourns flight attendant killed in Ahmedabad crash
Palakkad: A wave of grief swept through Nila Nagar colony in Olavakkode after news emerged that Shraddha Dhavan (45), one of the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash, had strong ties to the local community.
Shraddha, a Mumbai native, was working as a flight attendant with Air India, alongside her husband Rajesh C K, whose family has deep roots in the colony. Rajesh is the youngest son of Narayanan K and Shobhana C K, long-time residents of Shreyas Home in Nila Nagar.
The tragic news first surfaced through a newspaper. “I spotted her name among the casualties and immediately contacted Narayanan sir, who is currently in Australia visiting his eldest son. When he confirmed it, we were all stunned,” said Sujith S, a retired principal and ex-president of the Nila Nagar Residents Welfare Association.
The colony, known for its close-knit community, quickly mobilized in mourning. News of the incident spread via the residents’ WhatsApp group and other online forums, prompting an outpouring of condolences.
Though Shraddha lived elsewhere, her ties to the area through her in-laws made her loss deeply personal to many in the colony.
Neighbours recalled Shraddha’s occasional visits with warmth and remembered her as polite and cheerful. As the community grapples with the loss, many residents have come together to offer support to the grieving family.
This heartbreaking incident has left a void in the hearts of many who knew her.
