
Panambur Police Bust Drug Trafficking Ring, Arrest Six Including Foreign National
In a major crackdown, Panambur police apprehended six suspects, including a Nigerian national, involved in drug trafficking and sales within the Panambur jurisdiction. During the raid, police seized a range of narcotics and a scooter used in the illicit operations.
The operation unfolded after Panambur police received a tip-off about two individuals on a scooter near the sea route behind the KIOCL area suspected of possessing drugs for sale. Acting swiftly, PSI Shreekala K T, under the guidance of Mangaluru North ACP Srikant K, led a raid that resulted in the arrest of two suspects, Chandan and Sharath, who were found with narcotics. Further investigation led to the capture of four other suspects accused of aiding in distribution: Madhusudhan Konchadi, Dhanush Akash Bhavan, Mukesh Derebail (a Nigerian national), and Michael Balaji, also known as Azbaek Johnny.
Police seized 11 grams of cocaine, 30 grams of MDMA, a scooter (KA-02-AG-0616), and nine mobile phones used to facilitate drug sales, with the seized narcotics valued at approximately Rs 91,000.
The suspects, five of whom are Mangaluru residents working in various private sector roles, including catering and painting, were presented before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal, DCP Siddharth Goyal (law and order), and DCP Dinesh Kumar (crime and traffic), with Panambur inspector Mohammed Saleem Abbas leading the team, assisted by PSI Shreekala K T, crime division staff, and officers from Mangaluru North Division, including PSI Raghavendra M Naik and additional personnel.
