Mangaluru: As a part of “Karthik Maas” (auspicious moth according to the Hindu calendar), Tulasi Pooja is one of the important rituals that is performed throughout the nation by the Hindus. Tulasi, known to be the Goddess of health and well being, is worshipped with utmost devotion.

A prominent religious center of the Goud Saraswat Brahmins (GSB), Sri Venkataramana Temple, Car Street, located in the “Heart” of the city, Hampankatta, had also witnessed this ritual with grandeur, on Tuesday, November 20.

On the day of Uttana Dwadashi (12th day of the bright phase moon, according to the Hindu calendar), the Tulasi Pooja is performed, normally in the southern part of India.

Lord Srinivasa had completed his resting in the sanctum for around four months and on this auspicious day, the idol of the deity is brought out in the temple and is kept on the silver throne, for a marriage of Tulasi, (a plant which is also said to be the abode of Goddes Lakshmi, wife of Lord Vishnu) and Lord Srinivasa.

Several rituals were performed from the early hours of Tuesday morning.

In the evening, along with Maha Pooja, the idol of Lord Srinivasa along with Sridevi and Bhudevi was taken on a silver palanquin for a round in the temple vicinity.

Temple trustees C L Shenoy, Ramchandra Kamath, Prashanth Rao, along with hundreds of devotees were present.

Meantime, the pontiff of Shree Kashi Math Samsthan His Holiness Shree Samyamindra Tirtha Swamiji too conducted the rituals and offered pooja to Tulasi in Kashi Math.
