Private Bus Damaged During Congress Protest in Mangaluru
A private bus was damaged when a Congress protestor pelted stones during an agitation in front of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) at Lalbagh on Monday. The protest was organized by Congress in response to the Karnataka Governor granting permission to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the MUDA site allotment case.
The demonstration began with a rally from Brahmashree Narayaguru Circle, Ladyhill, and proceeded to the MCC building, where senior leaders addressed the gathered protestors. The protest took a violent turn when one group of agitators burned a tyre on the road, while another protestor threw stones at a private bus on route number 2C, traveling from State Bank Circle to Jokatte. The stone-throwing incident resulted in the bus’s windshield being shattered, creating a tense atmosphere in the area.
Law enforcement quickly responded to the situation to prevent further escalation and ensure the safety of the public. The incident highlights the rising tensions surrounding the ongoing legal proceedings against the Chief Minister, with protests becoming increasingly confrontational.
The MUDA site allotment case has attracted significant political attention, with senior advocates Abhishek Singhvi and Kapil Sibal representing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the matter. The damage to the bus underscores the volatility of the protests as legal battles continue.
