
Protest Erupts in Peethabail Over Arrest in Naxal Encounter Probe
Villagers of Peethabail in Nadpalu, Hebri, staged a protest outside the local police station on Friday, opposing the detention of Jayanth Gowda. Police took Gowda into custody during an investigation into the Naxal encounter that resulted in the death of Naxal leader Vikram Gowda.
News of the arrest spread quickly, prompting Malekudiya community leaders and villagers to gather at the station, asserting Jayanth Gowda’s innocence. Station House Officer Mahesh T assured the crowd that he would escalate their concerns to higher authorities. Despite this, the villagers remained resolute in their demand for Gowda’s release.
Prominent figures such as Nadpalu GP Chief Naveen Kumar and Hebri GP Chief Taranath Bangera joined the protest, showcasing the community’s united stand.
The incident underscores the tensions between law enforcement and local communities in areas with Naxal activity.
