Samyukta Horata Karnataka to Hold Protest Rally in Support of Farmers’ Struggle
On November 26, the district unit of Samyukta Horata Karnataka, a joint committee of trade unions, will hold a public protest rally and convention in Mysuru, extending support to the nationwide call by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha. This event marks the fourth anniversary of the farmers’ year-long struggle against the Union government’s controversial farm laws.
Speaking to reporters, Jagadeesh Surya, convener of Samyukta Horata Karnataka, announced that the rally would begin at Town Hall at 11 AM, followed by a public convention near Gandhi Square. The aim of the rally and convention is to raise awareness among the public about the farm laws, including the APMC Act, the Anti-Cow Slaughter Act, and other legislation perceived to harm farmers’ interests.
Surya also condemned the Union government for amending 48 labor laws into four labor codes, which includes increasing work hours from 8 to 12 hours. He further criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for not fulfilling his promise to withdraw the farm laws in Karnataka, despite the Union government’s decision to repeal them.
This event will serve as a platform to continue the fight against policies that farmers and labor unions believe undermine their rights and interests.
