
Scholarship Awarding Ceremony at St Aloysius Deemed to be University
Mangaluru: 721 students of the UG programme were awarded scholarships worth ₹38,19,500/- during the Scholarship Awarding Ceremonies held on the 28th and 29th of August 2024 at St Aloysius Deemed to be University.
61 students were recognized for their active participation at State, National, and International Levels. Scholarships worth ₹6,87,000, under the title Kreeda Spoorthi, were awarded to these students on the 28th of August 2024. The Superintendent of Police, Sri Yathish N IPS, was the chief guest on the occasion. During the same event, 235 students of the first-year UG programme were awarded cash prizes of over ₹11 lakhs, under the Vidwath Spoorthi Scholarship, for their excellent performance in 12th/PUC Board exams. Most of these students have scored 95% and above.
In his speech, the SP encouraged the students to consider Civil Services as a career option. The guest of honor, C A Norbert Jerome Saldanha, an alumnus of St. Aloysius Institutions, spoke about his experiences as a student during the centenary year of 1980. The Vice Chancellor of St. Aloysius Deemed to be University, Rev Dr. Praveen Martis SJ, presided over the programme. Dr. Alwyn Dsa, the Registrar of the Autonomous College, and Ms. Shilpa Dsouza, the Institutional Development Officer of St. Aloysius Institutions, were present.
On the 29th of August 2024, a total of 425 students were awarded the need-cum-merit scholarships, collectively benefiting from ₹19,57,500/-. Dr. U T Ifthikar Ali, an alumnus of St. Aloysius College, was the Chief Guest. Dr. Ifthikar was felicitated on being appointed as the Chairman of the Karnataka State Allied and Healthcare Council. He applauded the efforts of the St. Aloysius Management in supporting meritorious needy students and encouraged the management to start allied healthcare UG programmes.
