After a fantastic 2014, Hyundai is poised for an even better 2015 courtesy new products which would finally fill in the gaps in the portfolio. You already know about the new Verna which would be launched in the 18th of this month and after that would be the turn of the Elite i20 Cross launching in early March. So what do we know about it? Read on.First of all the Elite i20 Cross would not be actually called that and will have a different name but for certain it will have i20 in its name. The reason is simple as currently other cars in its class bear the Cross name and Hyundai obviously wants something different.
Up next is the looks and here as you might guess it will have rugged styling theme with some design changes over the current Elite i20. The cladding all over, raised ground clearance, scuff plates and roof rails would give the i20 Cross even more presence over the current Elite i20. Would it beat the Fiat Avventura in terms of ground clearance? That remains to be seen though unlike the Avventura it would not have the spare wheel at the back. Other changes design wise would include LED DRLs, new alloy wheel design and colour options for the i20 Cross range.
Inside it will mostly remain the same but it will get a new interior colour scheme going with the philosophy of the exteriors. Like Fiat Hyundai may also include new features. Space would remain the same as the Elite i20.Engine wise also expect the same set of engines as the Elite i20 hatch which means the 1.2 petrol and the 1.4 CRDI diesel with only a manual gearbox option. Pricing of course is key here and Hyundai wants to take on its rivals big time here so expect around Rs 1 lakh difference over the Elite i20. Considering what you are getting that looks like good value indeed. So it seems the Elite i20 Cross would easily turn out to be the best selling car in its class.
