The Cayenne SUV has been one of the best selling vehicles in the Indian fleet of Porsche and now, this German luxury sportscar manufacturer has just launched the latest version of the Cayenne in India at an asking price of INR 1.02 crores (ex-showroom, Maharashtra).
With its gigantic proportions, incredible off-roading capability and engines so powerful that one could scarcely believe that they were driving a hulking SUV and not a sportscar, the Cayenne was ultra desirable. The new 2015 Porsche Cayenne will be offered at first in 4 variants, the base Cayenne S petrol, two diesel versions and the Cayenne Turbo. In time, Porsche will surely bring the GTS and their flagship model with unhinged performance, the Cayenne Turbo S.
The Cayenne S petrol will be driven by a 3.6 litre, twin turbocharged V6 petrol engine that delivers 414 bhp while the Cayenne diesel will get a 3.0 litre, turbocharged V6 engine that puts out 242 bhp. The more powerful Cayenne S diesel will have a bigger 4.2 litre V8 engine under the bonnet that generates 380 bhp. The party piece is the business end of the Cayenne Turbo, which is a whopping 4.8 litre, twin turbocharged V8 petrol engine that belts out an insane 513 bhp to propel this car from 0-100 kph in just 4.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 280 kph.
Keeping in line with Porsche tradition, the styling changes to this car are subtle. One of the most striking aspects of this new Cayenne is its bi-xenon projector headlamps with four individual spikes forming the LED daytime running lights. The Turbo variant will get full LED headlight clusters with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS). Other modifications are new bumpers, a bigger front grille that also functions as a better cooling device, a slightly redesigned bonnet and so on. With these changes, the Cayenne will definitely ensure a solid foothold for Porsche in India.
