WhatsApp has a variety of shortcuts that make it easier to use. Although some of them are still accessible on Android and iPhone, the majority are only available on smartphones. Users can utilize these shortcuts through the keyboard, which eliminates the need for multiple clicks.

Without further ado, let us familiarize ourselves with the WhatsApp web and laptop shortcuts.

Change Focus

As with every other homepage or application, clicking the Tab key on both the WhatsApp web and laptop versions of the application switches the subject. It begins with the search field, then moves to the chat area, then to the emoji icon, and ultimately to the typing area.

Emoji Focus Button

Rather than clicking the Tab key three times, you should use the Shift + Tab shortcut to concentrate directly on the emoji icon. When these two keys press together, a little blue box appears to display the emoji symbol. To open the emoji screen, press the Enter key.

Short Text to Emoji

Remember the good old days when we used to type emojis or smileys in our text messages like this : ), :*? Indeed, WhatsApp offers a similar service. When you enter these characters, WhatsApp can translate them to emojis automatically.

Search Chat Rooms

Apart from the Tab key, you should use the Ctrl + F keys to concentrate on the search field. The flickering cursor would then switch to the box. After that, you may begin typing your search word.

Initialize A New Chat

When you click the Ctrl + N shortcut in Chrome on a Windows PC, a new window will open. Using the same shortcut, you may launch a recent WhatsApp conversation. On a Mac, use the Command + N keyboard shortcut. As these two keys press, the New chat window will open. Then pick the individual you want to text. This feature is supported even when you are using WhatsApp through BlueStacks.

Create New Group

Similarly, users can use the Ctrl + Shift + N shortcut to build a new group. You can use the Command + Shift + N shortcut on Mac OS. You would then be prompted to select members.

Move-In and Out Of Conversations

If the emphasis is on a chat line, you can navigate through them using the arrow keys. However, if the priority is elsewhere on your Windows PC, you can use the following two keyboard shortcuts:

  • Ctrl+Shift+] : Proceed to the next chat
  • Ctrl + Shift + [ : Return to the previous conversation
  • On Mac computers, substitute Command for Control, resulting in the shortcut Command + Shift + ].

Archive Conversation

The archive is a convenient and fast way to conceal WhatsApp conversations. Rather than using the menu button, you can archive chats using the Windows app’s Ctrl + E shortcut. On a Mac, users can do this by pressing Command + E.

Electronic Chat

We are both aware of how irritating such chats can be. What better way is there than to silence them? To mute a specific conversation in the WhatsApp Windows app, use the Ctrl + Shift + M shortcut. Simply open the same chat and click these three keys. Similarly, on Mac computers, use Command + Shift + M.

Disable Chat

To uninstall a chat, press Ctrl + Backspace on Windows or Command + Backspace on Mac OS.

Open the Profile Picture

To edit your profile image, name, or about section, you can use the Ctrl + P shortcut (Command + P on Mac OS) to open the profile window directly.

Exit Application

Finally, you can exit the app by pressing ALT + F4. It will terminate the WhatsApp application on your device. To reopen the program, you must restart it.

If you are a frequent site consumer of WhatsApp, these WhatsApp shortcuts can simplify your everyday life by saving you a few clicks. Have fun!
