protest fuel 20062020 01Shivamogga: Opposing the Central Government’s move of amending the Land Reforms Act and alleging that both they and the state government have failed to check the increasing oil prices, the Shivamogga district Congress unit took out a rally from near their district office on Saturday, June 20. They also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.

During the rally, party workers shouted slogans against the State and Central Government.

While addressing the protesters, Shivamogga district Congress president H S Sundaresh said, “The pro-people Congress had brought many programmes for the welfare of the poor people. But now, the BJP has been favouring the corporate and rich people. In order to favour industrialists and corporates, the government is trying to amend the Land Reforms Act. The Congress party will never allow them to sell our country to the corporates.”

He also condemned the Central Government’s decision to hike the fuel prices. “The government has no concern for the grievances of the public and it has completely failed to curb the fuel prices,” he added.

Former minister Kagodu Thimmappa, former MLAs Beloor Gopalakrishna, K B Prasanna Kumar, Kalagodu Rathnakar and others were present.
