Shivamogga: The District Commissioner’s office witnessed a mock election in which hundreds of children participated. Deputy Commissioner K A Dayananda took the initiative in his office and gave children an opportunity to vote in the mock election.
As many as 300 children registered their names for the mock election and cast their votes.
Speaking on the occasion, Dayananda said, “The developed countries educate their children about voting by conducting mock elections. A similar initiative has been taken in our district for the first time in our country.”
Children celebrated the mock election by clicking photos with inked fingers after casting their votes and also called for the elder citizens to vote by saying “We have cast our votes, you cast yours.”
Assistant Deputy Commissioner B R Poornima was also present.
