Shivamogga: About 32 students of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Degree College here in Iliyas Nagar have not been able to write their exams as the college, it is reported, has not yet got recognized by Kuvempu University.

The exams have already begun for Shivamogga’s graduation students, and the students of this college have been unfortunate that they have lost an opportunity to write their exams due to negligence of the college. The college which started recently, did not take the permission from Kuvempu University before opening despite them having necessary documents in this regard.

The University on March 3 2020 answering to a letter sent by the college had said they will soon send a committee to check for approval. The university which had informed to register online in August, cancelled all the prior orders.

But the college’s governing body is pointing the finger at the university. The tussle between the university and the college management has put the student’s future at stake.

It was argued that the college’s governing body should not have started the college without getting the after permission from university meanwhile the university should have informed the college to not start without getting approval. Since both of these tasks are not done, the students are deprived of their exams.

Parents are worried that their wards are unable to write exams as they have already missed one paper.

Some of the parent opined that at least the university should have taken cognisance of offence committed by the college and thereby made an arrangement for the students to take up the exams in affiliation with another college.
