Shooter Arrested After Encounter for Murder of Air India Employee in Noida
Noida: Sikandar, the shooter wanted for the murder of Air India employee Suraj Mann last year, was arrested on Thursday following an encounter with the Noida Police. Sikandar sustained a bullet injury to his leg during the clash and was later admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Sikandar, who had been on the run for a year, confessed that the murder of Suraj was planned by gangster Kapil Maan, who is currently imprisoned in Delhi’s Mandoli jail. The killing took place on January 19, 2024, outside a gym in Noida’s Sector 104, amidst an ongoing gang war between Kapil Maan and Parvesh Mann, Suraj’s brother.
Suraj, who had no criminal record, was shot in broad daylight while sitting in his car outside the gym. Police believe the murder was a revenge attack, as Parvesh allegedly orchestrated the hit on Kapil’s brother in retaliation for the death of Kapil’s father at the hands of Parvesh and his associates.
Sikandar had been evading arrest, changing his identity and location frequently. Despite being arrested twice by Delhi Police for other incidents, he did not reveal his role in Suraj’s murder. However, persistent efforts by Noida Police, including monitoring Sikandar’s movements and verifying his involvement through CCTV footage, led to his capture.
During the encounter, Sikandar attempted to escape on a motorcycle, but was surrounded by police in Sector-42. In the ensuing firefight, Sikandar was injured, and a pistol, cartridge, and the motorcycle were recovered from the scene.
Police believe that Suraj, despite his peaceful aspirations, became a victim due to his association with his brother Parvesh, whose ties to notorious gangsters ultimately led to Suraj’s tragic death.
