Sleepy drive turns fatal: Three from Guntur killed in Holalkere crash

Three members of a family from Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district lost their lives in a tragic road accident near Holalkere in the early hours of Monday, police confirmed.

The family was traveling to Udupi when their car reportedly veered into the opposite lane around 4 am and collided head-on with a lorry heading towards Ballari from Mangaluru.

According to initial findings, the car driver is suspected to have fallen asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to drift into oncoming traffic. The impact proved fatal for three passengers, including a woman.

The driver of the car survived the crash and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chitradurga. Doctors have stated that he is out of danger.

Police have registered a case and said that a detailed investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the accident.
