Social Media Death Threat Against Hindu Activist Sparks FIR in Mysuru
Mysuru: A case has been filed by Udayagiri police against a local resident, Akram Khan, for allegedly issuing a death threat to Hindu activist Puneeth Kerehalli through a social media post.
The message, which included the phrase “Next you,” suggested that Puneeth would be killed in retaliation for the death of Idris Pasha, a cattle transporter. The threatening content was deemed serious enough to warrant legal action, and police registered a First Information Report (FIR) after obtaining court approval.
Idris Pasha, along with two others, was reportedly moving cattle from Mandya to Tamil Nadu when they were stopped by self-proclaimed cow vigilantes. Pasha was later discovered dead under suspicious circumstances. Puneeth Kerehalli and four others are currently facing murder charges in connection with the case.
In addition to the social media post, Puneeth is said to have received threatening messages and calls via WhatsApp. These incidents have intensified security concerns surrounding the activist.
The police are continuing their investigation and are monitoring online activity for any further provocations.
