Indian Cinema has always been liked and loved by one and all if the theme is family oriented. People flock into theatres to watch family entertainers. Director Sandeep Malani always tries to bring rich family values and traditions in his films. A lover of Rajshri films, his latest iPhone offering-Yeh CineMaa Hai-with the title itself having “Maa” in “CineMaa”, is about a mother’s love and the children’s feelings in return. The song which goes “Jhoomo Nacho, Aish Karlo” is the finale song of the film and has a big fat family participating, singing and dancing to glory.

The Theme of the Song

It’s the birthday celebration of Maa. It’s a surprise party which the children Varun and Sidharth have with many guests coming in and wishing each and everyone-their fiancés, girlfriends, aunts, newly married couples-and then the surprise breaks that it’s actually the celebration for the duo’s mother’s Birthday. Sidharth had always missed celebrating his mother’s birthday as he wasn’t around So this time he makes sure that he celebrates it with grandeur. Before the birthday candle is blown out and the cake is cut, Sidharth gives an emotional speech in honour of his mother, that brings tears in the eyes of all the family members. And then it’s happiness and fun as they all get together to sing and dance.

The Inspiration for the song

As told before, Sandeep Malani has always been inclined to making family oriented films. Rajshri Films like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Hum Saath Saath Hain etc. have been his all time favourite films. And so, when a situation of a family song had to be recreated, firstly, he told the music composer Karthik Venkatesh to have the music of celebration and then make the singers sing joyfully. He then instructed the choreographer, Sanjay, to give the song the feel of Dhiktana Dhiktana from HAHK. He also insisted that the set be full of drapes and balloons. Added to which, he had the female characters (Sanjukta, Shubha, Sharanya, Cherrie, Varsha) and the elderly women (Meena, Deepali, Vinnie, Gita, Juliet) wear designer outfits and the men wear sherwanis and kurta paijamas to give the feel of a North Indian celebration.

The Cast and the Crew

The song features many characters. Jaya Maa (Meena Malani), Reema Aunty (Deepali Khambadkone), Supriya (Vinny Fernandes), Ratna (Gita Suvarna), Raveena (Juliet Aranha), Alia (Sanjukta Ghosh), Sonam (Shubha Raksha), Deepika (Sharanya Kaur), Kriti (Varsha Acharya), Ileana (Cherrie Ash), Varun (Ranjeet Jha), Sidharth (Bharath Lakshmikanth), Ranveer (Mahendra Pandey), Karan (Velu Murugan) with Lalitha Kumari, Ajit Shetty, Chirag Kundapur, Mohammed Aashiq, Sharon David, Denzil Periera, Sharan Shetty, Umesh K T and others.

The scene has been choreographed by Sanjay and Raj (XLNC), music and lyrics by Karthik Venkatesh, singing by Govind Kurnool and Priya Yadav, and edited by Santosh Chawla and Vignesh Thanupillai. This was shot at Preeti Primary School, Attavar, Mangalore, thanks to Head Mistress Lily Pereira, who gave the location. Co-produced by Ranjeet Jha (RKJ Production), Santosh Chawla (The Studio Agency), Edward D’Souza and Sandeep Malani (Malani Talkies) who has also written the script, concept, handled the iPhone cam and directed the venture.
