The new Kannada movie Tony with Diamond Star Srinagara Kitty in the lead role, is ready for release. This is an ambitious project of Shrinagara Kitty who has high expectations from the film directed by Jayatheertha of Olave Mandara fame. The songs of the movie which have already been released, have enjoyed roaring success. The movie is a joint venture of Shrinagara Kitty and his friend Indrakumar. The shooting is complete and if everything goes as per plan, Tony will hit the silver screens by June end.
The film has several unique features and Gandhinagar too has high expectations from the movie. Shrinagara Kitty interacted with News Karnataka on his latest venture, with an open heart. Here are some of the excerpts and happy moments which Shrinagara Kitty spent with us during the course of his promotional campaign for his new film.
The songs of the movie Tony are already a hit. There are high expectations from this movie. What do you have to say about the movie?
(Smiles) It may not be wrong to say that Tony is a movie with a unique concept. I am not saying this
because it is my venture. It is an entirely new concept and an experimental film which the film industry has ever seen. This is certainly not an art film, but a commercial film with a mafia background. Jayatheertha who has directed a good film like Olave Mandara has directed Tony. The viewers have high expectations from him. More than him I have high expectations from the film and am eagerly awaiting its release. The film has come out superbly just as we had expected.
This is the first film pairing you and Aindritha. What about your experience working with her?
Working with Aindritha was a good experience. She is a talented actress. Most importantly,the film has a distinct story line and we have done justice to our roles.Even the directors work has been satisfactory.Aindritha was the perfect choice for this movie. Finally, it is the viewers who will have to say about the Shrinagara Kitty-Aindritha combination. My role is of different shades in the movie. You will have to watch it and say.
It has been ten years since you made your foray into Kannada filmdom. How was your experience ?
It can be described as a beautiful journey. The film industry has rewarded me with rich experience. 
There is competition here as in other fields. But there is no formula for victory. The viewer will certainly accept good films and helps them win. It is patience and luck that pays here. We have to wait for both. But it is not an alternative to hard work. But we have to wait for the right time.
Taking a look at your film career right from Chandra Chakori to the latest Tony –you have given films of good taste. Most of your films have been complete family entertainers doing justice to the money which the viewer pays. Why do you say that everyone should watch Tony?
As I have already said, Tony movie has a different story line.Rather than a story, it can be described as an experience. Tony will give an altogether different experience to the viewer. Especially, in a cosmopolitan city, a mafia will be operative with our without our knowledge. The film revolves around a hero who was caught in the mafia and a heroine who is caught in the love of the hero. The film story is all about how the hero comes out of the clutches of the mafia and saves his lives. The sequence is shot in a way that it touches the hearts of the viewer. The film has several specialties, it has the touch of Kannada folk culture, a good star cast and technicians. Just watch the movie to know about it.
You have grown from an actor to a producer… how was your journey ?
(Smiles) There is nothing special. As an actor and as a producer, I have always tried to do justice to whichever role I have played. As a producer, I have the satisfaction of producing the film Ball pen. The response from viewers has also been encouraging. I have great pleasure to be the producer of Tony. The main reason being that this is a big budget complete commercial film with big dreams. I have the greater responsibility of bringing the film before the viewers and live upto their expectations. My journey from an actor to a producer has been very pleasurable. My hard works have been rewarded well by the lord and my fans. I have a long way to go and have to learn a lot. My journey will end the moment I think I have knowledge about everything. We should move ahead thinking we have to learn a lot. We should be always dynamic.
The songs of Tony have already been a hit. Whom do you attribute the success of the songs? What is so special about it?
The songs of the film have been set to tune by Sadhu Kokila who has done a superb work after his 
film Inthi Ninna Preethiya. The songs with a folk touch have been penned by Yogaraj and Jayatheertha. Puneeth Rajkumar, Raghu Dixit, Sonu Nigam, Hemanth and MD Pallavi have lent their voice. There is a melody song and two songs for mass audience. Raghu Dixit has lent voice to the song Naavu Kooguva Koogu. The specialty is that he himself has enacted the song in the movie. Raghu has his own set of admirers. In his own words he has never sung a song as good as this one next to Maadeshwara. I am happy that my film has all these special features.
What else is Shrinagara Kitty apart from an actor?
A friend— I am also a good friend I have my own group of friends and we have formed an organization named Geleyara Balaga. Through this group I have been helping the needy by conducting blood donation camps and health camps. We have also been helping patients needing higher treatment through tie-up with big hospitals. After all, we have to help those who have given us a life. Am doing this work through our Geleyara Balaga. My friends are striving hard in this regard and I am happy. I spend my free time at home, with my better half and daughter and try to be with them as long as I can.
What are your future projects ?
I have two films at hand, “Bahuparak under the banner of Suni, the director of Simple Agondu Love Story and Shankra’ of Praveen Nayak. Though I am getting many offers, I have been choosy.
There seems to be a good opinion about Bahuparak in Gandhinagar ?
It is difficult to survive in the film industry unless you give something novel. We should always try to bring novelty. There is a need for experimental films in Kannada and they should be recognized.Even Bahuparak is a good theme based film.
When it comes to a film, what is important ? The story, role or director?
A good cinema is made when there is a good story, a good role, director and producer. A good story cannot make a good film at the hands of an inexperienced director. Similarly, a good cinema cannot be made if a director approaches a producer who fails to fund the film. At the same time a good film cannot be made in the absence of good actors. Similarly, a bad director and a good actor cannot make good films. Therefore, there should be a good team for the success of any film.
Finally, what would you like to tell your fans?
Tony,Ek Din Ka Sultan is a film with super duper concept. The film has such story lines that may send shivers down any spines. We have tried to go deep into the mafia world which is around us. Every film lover must watch this movie which will do justice to the money as well as the time spent on watching the 
film. This movie will certainly make you happy and ask us about our next film. Thanks to the Kannada film industry and viewers. Let your love and wishes be always with me.
