The year 2016 is coming to an end. This year we have a record number of film releases. Many new faces have also been launched. The year can also be called special as sons of three prominent politicians were launched as heroes in Sandalwood. Industry is known to welcome youngsters, these days. Newskarnataka.com picks the top five debut male leads of Sandalwood in the year 2016:
- Nikhil Kumar in “Jaguar”:
The first place goes to Nikhil Kumar, son of former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and grandson of former Prime Minister of India, H D Devegowda. Nikhil had a dream debut with the high budget “Jaguar”. The film is a dream launch any newbie would aspire for. Technically very sound, the film did good business in Karnataka. Nikhil was also praised for his acting skills. Nikhil had worked really hard for the film and had practised for nearly a year. The Telugu version of the film was a washout though.
Nikhil is now getting ready for his second film. He will be working with a Kannada director and is now in US, training for his role. The details regarding his second film will be revealed soon.
- Prithvi in “Naanu Matthu Varalakshmi”:
Prithvi made his debut with Preetham Gubbi’s “Naanu Matthu Varalakshmi”. The film was released last week and is doing average business. Prithvi has been praised for his performance. His acting skills have become talk of the town.
Prithvi is being offered many films. He has already signed two films. His third film will be presented by Hombale Films, which is known for producing big budget films with big stars. Looks like Prithvi has all the characteristics of becoming the next big thing in Sandalwood.
- Sooraj Gowda in “Maduveya Mamateya Kareyole”:
Sooraj Gowda made a grand debut with Thoogudeepa Productions “Maduveya Mamateya Kareyole”. He was selected in an audition from among 5000 aspirants. The handsome hunk did well in his first film.
Sooraj has all the potential to be the next romantic hero in Sandalwood. His second film “Kahi” was also released this year. Even though “Kahi” did not do well commercially, it did well critically. Sooraj has to be careful with script selection and go for the ones which suit him.
- Anup Revanna in “Lakshmana”:
Anup Revanna had a grand launch with R Chandru’s “Lakshmana”. The film had a big buzz associated with it prior to its release. However it was a huge disappointment. Anup may have failed in his first attempt. But his acting abilities have been given a thumbs up.
Anup has already completed his second film. The film has been directed by S Narayan and titled “Panta”. The film will be released this summer.
- Praveen in “Simple Agi Innond Love Story”:
TV star Praveen made his debut on big screen with “Simple Agi Innond Love Story”. The film was a sequel to sleeper hit “Simple Aagond Love Story”, which was a big hit and made Rakshit Shetty a big star.
Praveen did a decent job in his first film. However there is a need for some improvement in his acting skills.
These are the actors who have done a good job with their debut film. If they choose good scripts and plan their career as per the current trend, they can go a long way.
