Kannada film industry, popularly known as Sandalwood, is a star driven industry, wherein male lead stars get most of the remuneration. Even though a director is the captain of the ship, their remuneration is quite meagre compared to that of the lead actors.
However that is set to change soon with Prem, known for blockbuster films like “Kariya”, “Excuse Me” and “Jogi”. He has reportedly been paid 2 crores for his next directorial which will star Darshan in the lead.
Umapathy, who produced this year’s “Hebbulli”, will be producing the film. Darshan will be playing the lead in the film. Prem and Darshan are reuniting after 15 years for this film, which will reportedly be Darshan’s 52nd film. Umapathy has also confirmed this news about Prem’s remuneration.
In the Kannada film industry, Prem, Yograj Bhat and Suri are considered popular directors when it comes to paychecks. However, in last few years Prashanth Neel, Chethan and Snathosh Anandraam have climbed the charts. In the future, we can expect to see directors getting a larger paycheck.
