The talented Venkat Bharadwaj who has made a name for himself in Sandalwood as a director and producer, has once again lent his name to a unique film as a producer. Venkat’s Amrutha Film Centre banner has produced the movie and it is titled Rugna.
Having already generated curiosity with its title, Rugna is a psychological thriller and Venkat shares that the title has been inspired by a Sanskrit word which means broken. “And it aptly sums up the theme of the film,” says Venkat. The film has been directed by Sunil S Bharadwaj. He has donned the director’s hat for the first time and has been assisted by Suhas KS Rao in the screenplay and story writing of the film.
The story of the film revolves around a man who has witnessed umpteen ups and downs in life. But the team says they have ensured that besides showcasing the realities of life, the film remains entertaining as well. And most importantly, Rugna is a psychological thriller and features all the elements that a good film needs align with a sound technical team.
The movie has been shot in sun sound and was wrapped in record time. Shot in Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Padubidri, Rugna has been certified with a U/A and will release it in May. And the highlight? Rugna has been selected for the Bengaluru International Film Festival.
It has music by Nachiket Sharma and cinematography by Sanjay L Chinnappa. Uday Achar, Supreetha Satyanarayan, Sugreev Gowda, Bala Rajvadi and Smita Kulkarni will be seen in prominent roles. The movie has been financially backed by Venkat Bharadwaj and Manimaran Subramaniam.
