Dubai: The 25th episode of NewsKarnataka.com’s Namaste Teacher was held on Saturday June 4 at 6.30 pm IST.

The guest teacher for the evening was Flora D’Souza Nee Castelino. The special guests of the evening were her students, Sapna May Crasta, Teacher, Cambridge School, Paldane, Raoul Samuel Noronha, Student, St. Aloysius College (Autonomous ), Mangaluru, and Flexon Lester Lobo, Seminarian, Diocese of Mangaluru.

The event host was Kiran Nirkan.

Through teacher-student interaction, the series strives to highlight teachers and their impact on students. The show was premiered on NewsKarnataka.com’s Facebook and YouTube Channels.

In the beginning of the programme Kiran Nirkan introduced the guests and welcomed them.

Teacher Flora D’Souza Nee Castelino shared, “Being a teacher is the role accompanied with problems. But personally the one hour which I spend inside the class room vanishes all chaos in life,” she said.

Student Sapna May Crasta recalled the beginning of her bond with teacher Flora D’Souza. She also explained on ‘how the invitation by Flora ma’am led her towards Konkani Sangha and the ignition towards writing as hobby. The first wishes, appreciation for any of my social media status I receive is from ma’am,” she shared.

Raoul Samuel Noronha shared, “On the first day of college ma’am will ask and collect information on students’ fields of interest. With this she will prioritise her students and encourage them to take part in the events that takes place throughout Mangaluru.”

Flexon Lester Lobo expressed, “The reason behind my interest towards dramatics is Flora ma’am. My contribution towards Konkani in my collge is all dedicated to ma’am as she is the backbone for it.”

Expressing the role of teachers in evolution of a generation, the guests shared, “Teachers play an important role in students’ life. Every action of a teacher is imitated by students. Either wrong or right both actions are copied. A positive attitude of a teacher plays a significant role in the success of students. A student might get inside the classroom with hinderance but the face of their favourite student will bring in enthusiasm”, they expressed.

Stating the difference between students then and the students now, teacher Flora D’Souza said, “Back then students had no money in their hands. But now there are several ways to earn it and students own money. If they take this money in positive way aiding the household that is appreciable. But my concern is about students who earn for their lavish living. I fear their future,” she expressed concern.

Both teachers and students appreciated the initiative of NewsKarnataka in recognising the teachers. Wishing good luck Kiran Nirkan signed off the session.
