Want to create second generation blood donors: Balakrishna Salian

Dubai: The 27th episode of NewsKarnataka.com’s talk show ‘Sunday Celebrity’ was held on Sunday July 3 at 8.00 pm IST.

The guest for the evening was Balakrishna Salian, Blood Donation Promoter and Social Worker, Dubai and Sharjah. Floyd Kiran was the host for the event.

The programme was premiered on NewsKarnataka.com’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

In the beginning of the show Floyd Kiran introduced the guest and welcomed him.

Balakrishna Salian recalling his childhood shared, “Back in home town I was very good at Throwball, Chess, Carrom and Kabbadi player. I also have worked as a manager of sports team then,” he shared.

Speaking about his inspiration towards the social service he said, “In childhood we did grow up looking at the clinic my brother had and thus knew the significance of blood. Growing up we saw the need for it among our family and friends and contributed through several organisations. And as my wife too being in the same field of medicines inspired me more towards it.”

In the ‘Celebrity Favourites’ segment he shared, “My family and friends call me ‘Balu’ as my name is lengthy to be pronounced. He also said, ‘Ganji and Chutney’ is the royal food and is my favourite.

“I was happiest when my daughter was born. My mom had a sudden death and it was the saddest incident of my life”, shared Balakrishna Salian on the happiest and saddest phase of life.

“Every one tend to get angry. In my case suppose anger invades my mind, I just change the place and move to the other end.” He also expressed to create a second generation leadership to continue the service in blood donation pre-retirement.

As an advice to the audience he said, “A product will have manufacturing and expiry date but for human, the date of expiry is uncertain and so, do good thinking it is your last day.”

Kiran Nirkan expressing gratitude signed off the session.
