If not the sports itself still the camera persons pan their cameras left and right focusing a lot on the big names of every game. Whether they want it or not Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, Karim Benzema, and Gareth Bale stand tall in this edition of the Football Championship in Qatar. Certainly, the expectations rise meteorically for these players as the tournament is drawing close to its climax. They carry not so much a momentous tension to tackle a ball to create awe but the responsibility of a nation to make a game in its fullness with the fullest display of their talents. Not so much for cameras that are tracking them down but because of the reputation they hold.

While the big names make a remarkable contribution at every big or small stage, there are a few lesser in age but incredible genius, dashing through the games and making massive impacts on the court. One such wonder of the football that France has ever produced is Kylian Mbappé. Mbappe began training under his father as a kid. During his early career, his performance at the Clairefontaine academy was phenomenal. He has scored 7 goals for the France under-19 team in relatively a shorter period.

Mbappe made his debut with the senior Monaco team in the year 2015 against SM Caen. He scored his first goal for the club in the year 2016 at the age of 17 and turned out to be the youngest goal scorer ever for Monaco. His unbelievable skillsets fetched him a contract with PSG in 2017 being the second most expensive player to be transferred after Neymar.

Anyone with a sense of past would agree that Mbappe gloriously led his countrymen to the 2018 World cup by scoring his first senior international goal against the Netherlands in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

Kylian Mbappe produces a lively presence on the court causing fear of what he may do next but it can often feel as though a game is waiting for him to do something rather than forcing the issue himself.

Undoubtedly Mbappe now is more damaging than anyone when he takes the ball in his gait. No doubt the big names of football, except Neymar at times, can dictate the pace and finish that Mbappe is capable of.

As ever, he continues to dominate over any mighty, who tries to stop him on the court. The Qatar edition of FIFA is turning out to be a massive platform to set its records at the peak. Australia, Denmark, and Poland failed to come up with an appropriate answer with Mbappe scoring in his three starts on route to the quarterfinals.

After the Paris Saint-Germain forward’s brilliant two goals in France’s 3-1 last-16 victory on Sunday, Matty Cash, Poland’s defender said, “I didn’t know whether to drop off or go tight, when I went tight, he just spun in behind. When he gets the ball, stops, and moves, he’s the quickest thing I’ve ever seen. He’s on a different level. Speed, movement, look at his finishing. He’s got everything.”

Indeed, Mbappe is turning out to be a nightmare for many and is the tournament’s most feared player. The young Mbappe has five goals already in four games in Qatar. Can anyone imagine his nine career World Cup goals might put him level with Argentina’s Lionel Messi and one ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo the pillar of Poland? All set for England to take over the robust Mbappe’s force on Sunday December 11.

Gareth Southgate is on fire now; his concern would be to avoid a situation in which the pacy Mbappe can run at defender Harry Maguire and exploit his lack of speed. As known for his shuffle, will Southgate make major changes in position, this is the question every footballer will be wondering. Not to forget Southgate has already been massively criticised in the 2020 Euro final when they were kicked out with a penalty shootout. The major accusation was, that he is preoccupied with the opponent’s power than letting his men showcase their skillset.

However, Mbappe in all sense depicts the characteristics of a cat, moment before jumping on the prey to grip over, cats always hide and wait for the moment to do so. Hardly will anyone know what he has for the quarter-finals. Will it be an accusation to mention the unnoticed assists of Mbappe, certainly not. His assists for his teammates have been commendable too.
