Is dissolving marriage through divorce an option?

Divorce is the process of dissolving a marriage. It is about terminating the legally recognised union of partners. This process happens when two parties—the husband and wife plan to not live together anymore. In this process, they go through a legal procedure where they sign papers that make them free from each other and single again so that they can live their lives by themselves and get married to whoever they want, if at all they want to.

There are many reasons why people choose divorce as an option. One of them is a lack of commitment. A lack of commitment in a relationship can cause drift between partners. This has a serious impact on the marriage. When one person makes a decision and the other isn’t ready to accept it, this problem arises. This is also followed by “infidelity” and “too much argument.”

As we can see, the divorce rate in India is the lowest compared to the divorce rate around the world. A recent study states that “In India, the divorce rate is less than 1 percent. Out of 1000 marriages, only 13 result in divorce. The low divorce rate is due to the society pressure as arranged marriages usually takes place over between two families and not individuals. If someone asks for divorce, they’re usually shamed for going against the rules and parents” (Adoor, India Today).

After the process of divorce, the couples go through a lot of physical and psychological issues. They have so much on their minds after going through this that they take time to cope with their feelings. Their lives turn sad, and they start taking on too much stress. Divorce affects one’s emotional problems like decreased happiness, increased stress, and lower life satisfaction. But if this is for a good cause, then no objection can be raised.

When one feels uncomfortable around their partner and even after a lot of hardships and attempts to make it right, they still want to get over it, then there is a necessity to make a better decision. Not every relationship can be fixed and work smoothly. Some go through toxic relationships, which cause mental and physical risks.

“In a study that followed more than 10,000 subjects for over 12 years, researchers found that those in negative relationships were at a greater risk of developing heart problems including fatal cardiac events, than those who were not in negative relationships.” (Pearce, Men’s Divorce).

Every person needs to be happy in their life. Not all should be forced to be in a kind of relationship that spills out more toxicity without any love. So if they want to go for divorce and they think it’s right for them, then we must respect their decisions. If they think that they have tried a lot and that their relationship is still not working, they must not hesitate to free themselves. One must make sure they choose a partner that they feel is perfect for them so that their relationship doesn’t end up breaking. So everyone must stay happy and keep themselves mentally and physically happy.
