B’day wishes galore to HDD, Guv Gehlot on Twitter

Bengaluru: Former Prime Minister and JD (S) Supremo Haradanahalli Doddegowda Devegowda (HDD) and Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot are both celebrating their birthdays today (Wednesday May 18), making the day even more sweeter. This year, HDD will be 89 years old, while Gehlot will turn 74.

Taking to Twitter HDD gave his wishes to the Governor stating, “Warm birthday greetings to the Governor of Karnataka @TCGEHLOT. My heartfelt wishes to you for a long, prosperous & healthy life.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was first among those who wished the former PM on Twitter. “Birthday greetings to our former PM and respected statesman Shri @H_D_Devegowda Ji. May Almighty bless him with a long and healthy life,” PM wrote.

To this HDD replied, “Thank you, Hon’ble Prime Minister @narendramodi avare. I genuinely appreciate your time and heartfelt wishes!”

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, and Minister for Higher Education Dr. C. N. Ashwath Narayan too expressed their wishes to HDD.

Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Shobha Karandlaje wrote on her Twitter handle, “I extend my sincere greetings to Sri @H_D_Devegowda Ji, the former PM of India, on his birthday. A seasoned politician who in his stints as a national and regional lawmaker makes a deep impact on Karnataka. May Udupi Krishna bless him with good health and long life.”

“Happy birthday to the heroic leader, tireless veteran politician, former prime minister and my dear grandfather HD Deve Gowda. May God grant him good health,” stated Youth President of JD (S), actor and grandson of HDD Nikhil Kumar.

Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, President of Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, BJP Madhya Pradesh In-Charge P. Muralidhar Rao, CM of Odisha Naveen Patnaik, Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs & Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Minister for Transport and ST Welfare B. Sriramulu, Minister for Large and Medium-Scale Industries Murugesh Nirani were among those who wished the JD (S) Senior Leader.

Andhra Pradesh BJP State General Secretary Vishnu Vardhan Reddy wished “Warm birthday greetings to the Honourable Governor of Karnataka Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot ji. I pray for your good health and long life.”

CM Bommai also extended birthday wishes to State Governor. “Warm birthday wishes to Governor Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot Ji @TCGEHLOT May God bless you with a long & healthy life. We are committed to work for all round growth of Karnataka under your auspices.”

“Wishing our Honourable Governor Shri. Thawarchand Gehlot Ji a very happy birthday. May he continue to guide Karnataka on the right path of progress and development. I wish him a long and healthy life,” tweeted Murugesh Nirani.

Others who wished Gehlot are Former Deputy CM Dr. G. Parameshawara, and CM of Tripura Professor Dr. Manik Saha.

Citizens also expressed their joy and happiness, as well as their wishes for long and healthy life, to both HDD and Governor.

H. D. Deve Gowda was born in 1933 in Haradahalli Village in Hassan District. He had served as the 11th Prime Minister of India (1996-1997) and 14th Chief Minister of Karnataka (1994-1996). He also served as a member of the Assembly for four consecutive terms. He is currently a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament representing Karnataka. He is the Janata Dal (Secular) party’s National President.

Former Union Minister Gehlot, a Madhya Pradesh native from the Ujjain District, is the 19th Governor of Karnataka. He became the MLA for the first time in 1980 and also served four consecutive terms as an MP till 2009. Later in 2014, he was appointed as the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment. Gehlot was appointed as the Governor of Karnataka in 2021.
