Hail autumn!
Colourful season, a blessing of the year!
A marvel of nature!
Whose breath is dear.
Tell us, how your winds
Change green into brown,
Yellow, orange, red,
You weave designs around.
No artist can turn russet to sunshine shade;
Nothing on Earth is so richly inlaid;
With leaves of all sizes
Leaves of all shapes
Decorating the meadows in splendid drapes.
You dance to the breeze, soft and staid
You sway strong branches, you bargain and trade.
Till you’re shaken off the boughs
To sow the land
With ethereal hues that paint soil, stone sand.
Oh! wild autumn wind,
How strongly you blow!
You usher in winter
To mantle earth with snow.
