Tea is India’s national beverage. Tea is a common beverage used first thing in the morning in practically every Indian home. Indian homes place such a high value on it that it often replaces water as the preferred first drink.

The tastes vary depending on the locale. If we travel south of the country, we can observe that coffee quickly overtakes tea as the preferred beverage. Tea is still the most popular drink in the country’s northern and eastern regions.

An important industry in India is the tea industry. India is also a significant tea exporter in the nation, as can be seen by taking a look at some of the key statistics and data.

While the country itself consumes a large portion of the tea produced, a larger portion is also left over for tea export. If we were to look at a few intriguing data, we would discover that India alone accounts for over 31 per cent of the global market share for tea. Estimates of the overall revenue generated by the country’s tea sector indicate that the nation produces a staggering 10,000 Crore of tea annually.

As a result, the nation becomes a significant leader in the tea production sector. The export industry considers tea export to be a lucrative industry with significant revenues. The tea sector is also one of the main employers in the nation, and women in particular make up a large portion of the labour force engaged in tea cultivation.
