Nature is a mystery. There are various magics set in nature. Flowers are one of the most beautiful creations of nature. Each flower has its beauty. But have you ever seen a flower that looks like a bird? You might wonder which flower that is.

Yulan Magnolias, are native to China. They have been cultivated in Buddhist Temple gardens for nearly 1,500 years. Regarded as a symbol of purity, they were planted around the emperor’s palace during the Tang Dynasty. Magnolia denudates on which Yulan Magnolias flowers bloom is a rather low, rounded, thickly branched, and coarse-textured tree to 30 feet tall. The leaves are ovate, bright green, 15 cm long and 8 cm wide. The bark is a course, dark Gray. The 10 to 16 cm white flowers that emerge from early to late spring, while beautiful and thick with a citrus-lemon fragrance, are prone to browning if subjected to frost.

Magnolia denudata is used as an ornamental tree in gardens. It is similar to other magnolias in that it likes rich, moist soil and should be planted in a location where it is protected from elemental extremes. This plant has gained the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.

The delicate pink, citrus-scented flowers bloom in the spring, and just before their petals open up, they look exactly like birds! From the painted black eyes to the yellow beaks, to petals that look like wings, you’d swear you were looking at a real bird from a certain distance. The petals are of different colours, shades and shapes.

March is the month of Yulan or Magnolia flowers. What is special about Magnolia is that the flowers are in full blossom even before the leaves stretch out from the branches so that it is easier for you to appreciate the blooming flowers. If you stand at the right spot and look carefully enough, you might be enchanted to find out that some of these flowers appear like lovely little birds. Some are hiding among flowers, some are chirping with each other and others are randomly staring around.
