Bengaluru Erupts in Joy as RCB Defeats CSK to Enter IPL Playoffs
Bengaluru turned into a sea of red and black on Sunday night as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) stormed into the IPL 2025 playoffs with a dramatic victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The moment the match ended, thousands of euphoric fans gathered outside the stadium, waving flags, chanting slogans, and celebrating into the night. Videos showed the RCB team bus struggling to navigate through the jubilant crowd, with players capturing the scenes on their phones. “Usually it’s the fans who film their idols. Today, the idols are filming their fans — that’s the RCB effect,” wrote one fan on social media.
Celebrations weren’t limited to the stadium. Pubs and cafes in neighbourhoods like Koramangala and Indiranagar turned into mini stadiums, echoing with cheers and team anthems. Renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle tweeted, “I’ve never been to a rock concert, but I can’t imagine it being bigger than this.”
While the overall mood was festive, a minor scuffle broke out between rival fans near the stadium, which was quickly brought under control by Bengaluru police. Authorities were deployed in large numbers to manage the post-match crowd, which lingered until well past midnight.
RCB’s thrilling win has not only electrified its loyal fanbase but also reignited hopes of a long-awaited title run — a dream the city continues to chase with unmatched passion.
