Kodagu Academy win Denz Foundation football trophy

Bengaluru: In an exciting final that went into tie breaker after extra time, Kodagu Academy went on to win the All India Under-15 five a side football tournament beating Indus International School by 4-3 goals on Sunday 13.9.15 at the Kanteerava Stadium.
After a 1-1 draw in the final, Kodagu Academy managed to scrape past Indus International School in the penalty shootout. Kodagu Academy recieived a fantastic trophy and Rs.40000 for the win, while Indus International School were given Rs.30000 for the win along with a trophy.

Sri Jayan F.C. Bangalore finished in the third position when they beat Boca Juniors ‘A’ by 3 goals to nothing to take Rs.20000 with a trophy while Boca Juniors took home Rs.10000 with the trophy. Earlier in the semi finals Kodagu Academy beat Boca Juniors (4-0) while Indus International School beat Sri Jayan F.C. Bangalore in the tie breaker. (1-0)

There were 64 teams taking part in the tournament from all over India. At the end of the league matches, 32 teams qualified for the knockout phase that was played on Sunday. In all, a record 128 matches were completed in two days.

The tournament organised by Denz Foundation to encourage young football stars of the country saw superb skills by the youngsters coming from various teams in the country apart from Karnataka teams.

Individual Prize Winners: Best Promising Youngster: Bavu Nishad (EK Sports, Calicut), Golden Boot Award:Terence (Sri Jayan F.C. Bangalore), Most Valuable Player:Tanveer (Kodagu Academy), Best Goalkeeper:Sanat Narayan (Boca Juniors), Best Defender: Ghalib (Indus International School), Best Midfielder:Pavan (Boca Juniors), Best Forward:Shrikrith Podar (Indus International School), Best Disciplined Team:Vinay’s Holistic Football Club, Pune.

Decathlon Sports were the Performance Partners along with Hutti Gold Mines and others as sponsors. Mr. M.S. Krishna Murthy, Chairman of Referees Committee of KSFA gave away the trophies at the end of the finals.
