If you haven’t heard of Marvel Comics before, then you are probably one of the very few people in the western world that has managed to avoid this cultural phenomenon. If you do need an introduction, then Marvel is a superhero franchise independently produced by Marvel Studios, and the characters that inhabit this Marvel Universe have their roots in Marvel Comics.

Marvel Comics has been part of people’s youth for many years, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe kicked off with Iron Man in 2008. This entire universe has been a huge commercial success, and this has seen it take off from the cinema and land on television networks as well. Since Marvel is now owned by The Walt Disney Company, Marvel characters have also made their way to theme parks and resorts.

Marvel and the superheroes within its universe have been an inspiration for slot game developers as well. Marvel characters and movies are perfect for slots deposit pay by phone bill because they contain memorable characters, high octane action, and other elements that are needed to create a successful series of engaging slots.

Marvel Slots

The famous Marvel characters that the public has grown to love once did regularly grace online slot machines. The main suppliers were Playtech and Cryptologic, Playtech went on to be one of the most influential slots and gambling software developers in the industry and this holds true even today. Playtech ended up with exclusive licensing rights to provide Marvel comic-themed slots to the public that could be played at online casinos that utilized Playtech casino software. X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Iron Man were just a few of the games that could be played online. The characters and actors from the films appeared on the reels and these games came loaded with bonuses are free spins.

The End of An Era

Once the Walt Disney Company acquired Marvel the end was in sight for Marvel-themed slot games and this also meant that the Playtech/Marvel licensing deal, was also going to come to an end as well. Playtech ended their partnership with Marvel in April 2017, and this is why Marvel Slots have mostly disappeared from the lobbies of many online casinos. This was a major blow to Playtech, but it is thought that the Disney Corporation did not want their franchises to be linked with gambling. This is because Disney traditionally aims its products at a family audience and continues to do so to this very day.

Playtech has bounced back, and their slots continue to prove popular with the gambling public. They’ve also produced new franchises such as the Age of the Gods series of slots, and this has meant that the effects of the loss of the Marvel franchise have been lessened.

Final Thoughts

The Marvel Universe can survive without the gambling industry, but the gambling industry has found other comic book outlets to boost the popularity of slot games. DC comic book and movie characters are still available in slot form for customers to enjoy, and this ensures that superheroes live on at online casinos.
