Mangaluru: With the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) set to begin on Wednesday, a total of 22,525 candidates from Dakshina Kannada have enrolled for the examination, which is being conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).
On Tuesday, the Kannada language test was held specifically for Gadinadu and Horanadu Kannadiga candidates under Clause C and D. Out of 655 registered for the language paper in Mangaluru, 106 students were absent.
Officials confirmed that all preparations for the CET are complete, with 43 exam centres ready across the district. These include 27 centres in Mangaluru, 8 in Moodbidri, 4 in Belthangady, and 4 in Puttur.
The main exams will kick off with Physics and Chemistry papers on Wednesday, followed by Mathematics and Biology on Thursday.
In a bid to curb malpractices and impersonation, strict security protocols have been enforced. Surveillance cameras have been installed at all centres, replicating the model used in competitive recruitment exams. Webcasting will allow real-time monitoring of every exam hall.
A technical team from Government Karnataka Polytechnic College has been tasked with overseeing operations such as face recognition and QR code scanning on hall tickets. During college admissions, photographs from the test will be cross-verified to ensure the candidate’s identity is genuine.
Candidates must arrive at least 90 minutes before the exam begins, as they will only be allowed entry after a comprehensive security check. KEA has also laid out specific dress codes for male and female students, which are mandatory.
