Tragic Deaths in Raichur Village After Consuming Contaminated Food
In a devastating incident in Kallur village, Raichur district, a farmer couple and their two college-going children died after consuming a homemade meal of chapati, salad, and mutton on Thursday evening. The deceased are Bhimanna Bagli (60), his wife Eramma (54), and their children Mallesha (19) and Parvati (17). Another family member, Mallamma, remains in a coma.
The tragedy unfolded when the family began experiencing severe discomfort and uneasiness well past midnight. Neighbors, alarmed by the commotion, rushed them to the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences. Despite medical intervention, the victims succumbed to multiple organ failure around 3 a.m. on Friday.
Raichur Deputy Commissioner Nitish K confirmed that the deaths were not due to foul play or a suicide pact but likely caused by harmful toxins in the food. Food samples from the meal have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratories in Hyderabad for analysis. The Sirawar Police are awaiting the postmortem report to determine the exact cause of the fatalities.
The incident has shocked the small village, which is located 22 km from Raichur district headquarters. The investigation continues as authorities seek to identify the source of the contamination and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
