
Tragic Road Mishap Claims Five Lives from Bidar
Bidar: In a devastating accident near Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, five pilgrims from Bidar lost their lives, while nine others suffered severe injuries in the early hours of Friday. Their vehicle, a Cruiser, crashed into a parked lorry.
The deceased have been identified as Lakshmi (57), Neelamma (62), Santosh Kumar (45), Sunita (40), and Kalavati (40), all hailing from Ladageri, Bidar. The injured individuals—Sulochana, Sujatha, Kavitha, Anita, Kushi, Ganesh, Sai, Bhagwant, and Shiva—are currently receiving medical care at BHU Hospital in Varanasi.
Superintendent of Police Pradeep Gunti stated that a group of 14 people, belonging to the Tokre Koli community from Ladageri, had set off for a pilgrimage to Prayagraj and Varanasi on February 18. After performing the sacred ritual of bathing at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, they proceeded to Varanasi on Thursday. On their journey back home, their vehicle collided with a stationary truck under the jurisdiction of Mirza Murara police station, resulting in the tragic fatalities.
Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, ministers Eshwar Khandre and Rahim Khan extended their condolences to the grieving families. Khandre, who serves as the district in-charge minister, assured that the Karnataka administration is coordinating with officials in Uttar Pradesh to facilitate the repatriation of the deceased’s remains. Additionally, all necessary support will be provided to the injured during their treatment.
