
Tragic Suicide of Auto-Tempo Owner Shocks Udyavar Community
The Udyavar community in Udupi district was shaken by the tragic suicide of Mahesh Palan (35), an auto-tempo owner and active community member. Mahesh, a resident of Bolar Gudde, Udyavara, took his own life by hanging himself at the Udyavar Hindu cemetery. The incident, attributed to personal reasons, occurred shortly after he dropped his third-grade daughter off at school.
Mahesh, known for his involvement in various community organizations including the Billava Mahajana Sangh and Udyavara Yuvaka Mandal, was described as a dedicated tempo rickshaw driver and a supportive member of Guddeyangadi Friends. His father, Ramdas Palan, a recipient of the Udupi district Rajyotsava award, works as an ambulance driver.
The news of Mahesh’s untimely death has left his family devastated. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, wife, and young daughter. The community mourns the loss of a well-respected individual known for his active participation and contributions.
