Bengaluru: A tragic accident claimed two lives on 80 Feet Road, Banashankari 3rd Stage, when an autorickshaw was crushed between two BMTC buses on Friday morning.
The incident occurred at 11:35 am when a BMTC bus, traveling from NCERT Junction towards Seetha Circle, slowed down due to a turning car. The autorickshaw behind it also braked, but another BMTC bus (KA 01 F 9574) following closely rammed into it, sandwiching the auto, police reported.
The deceased were identified as Anil Kumar (50), the auto driver, and Vishnu Bapat (80), an Ayurvedic doctor from Hanumanthnagar. Kumar, a resident of K P Agrahara, leaves behind his wife and two children. Bapat was on his way to work when the accident occurred. The Banashankari traffic police have detained the BMTC driver and seized the bus. The bodies were sent to KIMS Hospital for post-mortem.
Another Fatal BMTC Crash in Hebbal
On Thursday evening, another BMTC bus fatally ran over a pedestrian at Hebbal Circle. The victim, Lingamma, was crossing the road around 6:45 pm when she was hit. She suffered critical injuries and was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. Hebbal traffic police have booked the driver and launched an investigation.
