27-year-old pregnant woman from Udupi tests positive for COVID-19

Udupi: A 27-year-old woman from Kollur in Udupi tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, May 18 evening. District Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh informed that the woman had recently returned from Mumbai.

In a video message, the DC said that the woman had been quarantined after she returned from Mumbai and her reports came back positive today. The woman, who is seven months pregnant, had travelled from Mumbai to Udupi and reached the district on May 12.

Her husband and all her contacts have been isolated.

“There were 25 passengers who travelled with the woman from Mumbai on the bus. They have been identified and their swab samples have been collected for testing. All the passengers are already in quarantine,” the DC added.

At least 11 novel coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the Udupi district, including three discharges and one death.
