Udupi: The toddy tapping has completely stopped due to lockdown, leaving the families of the people involved in toddy making helpless, stated B. N. Shankar Poojary, Billava leader.

Further, he said that the priests in Billava temples, people playing the role of demi-gods in Bhootaradhane and other temple staff’s lives too are in quandary. He also brought to the notice the woes of over 40000 female members of self-help groups of the communjty and urged the government to provide financial assistance to all the aggrieved, he stressed in a release.

Billava society leader and former Zilla Panchayat President Poojary has demanded all MLAs and MPs of the region to look into the woes of Billava community that is neglected so far in the times of Corona, through a press release.
