Udupi: The state government permitted the KSRTC to start service in 11 green zone districts in the state, except Udupi.
According to the decision taken by the state government, KSRTC is allowed to operate service with fewer passengers (30 passengers limit) in Haveri, Yadagiri, Chikkamagalur, Shivamogga, Koppala, Chitradurga, Chamarajanagar, Kolar, Ramanagar, Hassan and Davanagere.
However, due to Udupi’s proximity to orange zone Mangaluru, KSRTC has been asked not start service in Udupi.
“Any incident in Mangaluru and Kasargod will have some sort of impact on Udupi. With new cases being detected in Mangaluru, KSRTC buses will not operate in Udupi,” said sources.
The KSRTC is allowed to operate buses with all the precautionary measures including mandatory masks for both passengers and the crew members.
However, the private buses are not allowed to start operations.
