Karkala: The proprietor of a soft drink factory was electrocuted in Karkala Taluk’s Ajekar, on Monday, June 22.
The deceased has been identified as Rathnavarma Jain (52), a resident of Santhrabettu in Thellar, Karkala.
According to sources, there were some issues in the power connection at his soft drinks factory in Ajekar. An electrician had rectified the issues on Saturday, however, when the factory opened on Monday morning, there was a disruption in the power supply. As there was no power, the generator was switched on. Once the power returned, Jain went to turn off the generator. Water had accumulated near the generator, which led to his electrocution.
It is said that Jain was passionate about the folk sport ‘Kambala’ and had earned name and fame by organising the sport.
A case has been registered at the Ajekar police station in this regard.
