Shantiniketan Youth Society set to launch Co-operative Bank to support locals

From social welfare to educational needs, focusing on a common man’s life

Hebri: The Shantiniketan Youth Society has planned to set up a Cooperative Bank named ‘Shantiniketan Sauhardya Sahakari Niyamitha’ in Kudibailu, Kucchurru Village. It is expected to be launched on the 23rd of September.

The Youth Wing of Shanti Niketan in the presence of Shri Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji had recently launched its new logo and website.  The society’s executive committee includes President Rajesh Kudibailu, Vice President Ravish Shetty, Directors Jayakar Belenje, Ganesh Shetty Santhekatte, Mahesh Kudibailu, K Ganesh Kudibailu, Sandesh Kulal. Shrikanth Suvarna Karkala, Franklin Daanthi, Dikshith Nayak, Suresh Nayak Perdoor, Vinoda Kudibailu, Reshma Kadtal.

The team aims at the best interests of the people of Kucchurru and their well-being. Currently, there are 518 members in the society working together for the common cause.

Established in the year 2013, The Shantiniketan Youth Society has successfully fulfilled its objective of improving the quality of life of the people of Kudibailu village. Since 2018, this society has conducted activities and events towards this end and has involved the students of the area in their activities.

The Society has successfully worked for development in all areas such as health, education, and development. The first blood donation camp in the village Kacchuru was organized by them, along with the other cultural activities and games (Kreeda Koota), including Cultural meet (Shantiniketan Vidyaposhaka). The yearly Cultural activities Kreeda Koota, Chinnara Chilipili are some of the events where awards have been given out, with 11 students winning those awards.

Activities for a better life
The Shantiniketan Youth Society has been actively expanding student-oriented activities and events in the village area, especially reaching out to those students without adequate facilities.

On November 5, 2018 ‘Shantiniketan Jnanaspoorthi Quiz’ Competition was initiated by the team in Herge Vittal Shetty High School, which was a great success. The main goal was to create awareness about the competitive exams that would be faced by students studying in high school, pre-universities, and colleges. “The 7th episode of our quiz competition was the most pleasant one bringing out major success to the team. I would like to thank all the members and sponsors for joining their hands for the cause”, says Rajesh. “Most members who are a part of this society are the ones who have faced difficulties while studying that were often related to money or one or the other issues in life. Even with supreme knowledge and interest, they lacked facilities. With the same pain that still sustains today in all our minds, we want to make sure that none of our dear students should witness such issues.”

The society has now organized its 25th Taluk level Quiz competition, out of which 9 episodes gave out cash prizes, worth Rs 5000 for winners, and “Vidyasadaka’ of Rs 1000 for runner ups. ‘Adyaksha Nudi’ was also a Taluk level competition held by this wing. Along with this, they have also conducted free eye check-up, Diabetes, and Blood Pressure and blood donation camps.

To bring about more understanding about the importance of agriculture and farming, the society conducted the famous “Kesaru Gadde” event. This event involves games and fun activities playing in the mud, which helps us rebuild our bridges with the deeper roots of our origin.

They have performed several other activities such as farming and agricultural work, cleaning activities, also assisting services for Paryaya (a religious ritual that takes place in Udupi), etc. However, on the occasion of World Environment Day, they took up the environmentally friendly act of planting new saplings was held at Kucchuru Higher Primary School and temple premises of Kucchuru Mahalingeshwara temple. Additionally, they awarded prizes for the best plant among the first 5 members. An agriculture-related program was also held by them in Kucchuru Shashtri Nagara Government High school, Hebri showcasing the importance of planting in today’s scenario was honored by the presence of Annaya Ambiga, President, SDMC. They have also distributed free masks for the students of Hebri Pre-University college, given the current situation of the pandemic. Cash prizes are also being awarded to the students of the local government schools in Kucchuru who have excelled in academics.

By conducting activities related to knowledge, sports, and social welfare, the Shantiniketan Youth Society has always chosen to work for the comfort of the ones in need. “Our association is purely based on faith. The members are all focusing on the interests of a common man. All these years, the support we received from one another was the ultimate thing that let us move forward”, said Rajesh.

Organization of Activities
The society comprises of 14 teams, where every member has a distinct role and responsibility who makes sure every aspect of the program goes well. “The main intention is to make the best possibility and usage of the revenue that is being collected for this team. We post our audits on the edition, to let people know where exactly the earning goes.” As mentioned by the president, around 25-30 active members of the society give their one monthly salary every year to the society, for the development of their services, besides other sponsors.

As struggles and hardships were faced by almost every member of this team at one point in their life, they have recently come up with ‘Nalikali’, providing free education for pre-university and degree students. The main goal of this program is to make sure students learn and grow in their home environment, and they planned accordingly creating 7 specialized teams for the project.
