Unemployed Man Smashes TV in Pune PMC Office Amid Mental Health Struggles
Pune: A shocking incident occurred on Tuesday when a resident from Narhe casually asked if he could break a television set in the office of civic health officer Dr. Nina Borade at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) building. At around 5:30 PM, before anyone could intervene, the 43-year-old man smashed the TV screen with a stone, leaving staff members in disbelief.
The stunned employees quickly apprehended him and contacted the Shivajinagar police, who subsequently detained the individual. Senior Inspector Chandrashekhar Sawant later revealed that the man is unemployed and has been battling depression for some time, requiring medication. During a search, officers found several anti-depressant tablets and other medicines in his possession. Fortunately, he had no ongoing issues with any PMC officials or employees.
After questioning, the police released him, issuing a notice requesting his cooperation in any future investigations. According to the police, the man arrived at Nal Stop from Narhe before taking the metro to the PMC station. He wandered around the PMC headquarters for a few minutes before making his way to Dr. Borade’s office, where he found a few staff members present. Ganesh Jadhav, a 34-year-old PMC officer, filed a complaint regarding the incident.
