A 25-year-old man, Mohammed Safwan, sustained a gunshot injury in an alleged misfiring incident involving an unlicensed pistol at a resale shop in Vamanjoor, Mangaluru, on Monday.
City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal reported that the incident occurred at a shop owned by Addu, alias Badruddin, aged 34. Preliminary investigations revealed that Addu was testing the unlicensed pistol when he accidentally pressed the trigger, injuring Safwan, who was seated inside the shop.
The injured man was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment. Police discovered that the weapon was unlicensed and had been given to Addu by Moodshedde Imran.
A case has been registered at the Mangaluru Rural police station under sections 3, 5(1)(a), 25(1A), 25(1B)(a), and 27(1) of the Arms Act, along with section 110 of the BNS Act.
The authorities are conducting further investigations into the source of the weapon and the circumstances leading to the incident.
