Chamarajanagara: The annual festivities were held at Chamarajeshwar temple which is only celebrated in Ashada month amidst incessant rains.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) M V Savitri, MLA Putta Ranga Shetty and Tahsildar Chandrakant Bhajantri offered motion for Ratotsav in front of Chamarajeshwar temple here.
The chariot of Chamarajeshwar accompanied other chariots dedicated to other deities at the occasion.Thousands of devotees participated in devotion.
The different cultural troupes staged variety shows that added flavor to Ratotsav, that began from SBM Bank Road, passing through Veerabhadeshwar temple, old private bus stand and Agrahar Road and concluded at Chamarajeshwar temple at 3.30pm on Monday.
Its a custom for the newly-married couple to offer fruits to Lord Chamarajeshwar during Ratotsav. Meanwhile, the couples who live separately during Ashada month arrive to offer puja in order to appease God to realize their wishes.
After the puja celebrations, the local MLA Putta Ranga Shetty, SP Rajendra Prasad, Tahsildar Chandrakant Bhajantri joined in pulling the chariot to motivate the youth.
The women and children devoutly participated in pulling a small chariot that followed the larger chariot at the occasion.
