May 15 is celebrated as World Family Day. Meanwhile, the India family set up that was the role model for the world has gone through changes that are indeed destabilizing the families because a small proportion of families are following western culture.
None can deny the family set up has deep rooted in India. The human beings are originally is community oriented and difficult to lead lonely life. This kind of mindset has been the cause of family living.
The families that share their bonds with siblings and aged parents likely to lead cultured living and contribute for the society.
The families respond to each others needs, comforts the member in distress; without scope for selfishness. The joint families are withered to make way for small families that were thought to 
ease the burden and happy living. However, in reality, the grand children are forced to spend their time in play schools, depriving the love and care of grandparents. The nuclear families made their children lonely and lost the meaning of real relationships.
In the past any marital feud were solved on day-to-day basis, whilst at the changed circumstances the marital feuds are taken to court. The youth who are influenced by western culture, carefree living, and dearth of better relations or greed for money are losing peace and happiness of family living.
The youth are leading living-together influenced from western culture, with a hidden motive of shirking from family responsibilities and for gratification of lust. It will have serious consequences on future generation.
Let us hope the families get back to traditional living that has sustained over several centuries in Indian soil. It will indeed get significance to celebration of International Family Day.
