It’s will be a sort of ghar wapsi for Indian bulls from Brazil as Ramdev’s Patanjali is planning to use artificial insemination technique to produce all female calves from the semen of Brizilian bulls.

The semen of the bulls that will be imported from Brazil is of Indian origin as Brazilian experts in 1940s took some cows from India with them, said Patanjali’s dairy unit head Yashpal Arya.

This technology will be used in India with the help of Dutch and US experts, says a report in Times of India.

Apart from this, Patanjali plans to use ‘sexed semen’ of Brazilian bulls to produce 92 percent of the female calves. The aim of this project to produce more milch cows to produce their productive lives and prevent them from ending up in slaughterhouses.

According to the report, Patanjali will later this month sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dutch outfit CRV BV. According to Arya, the Brazillians have maintained a bloodline of proven bulls, one whose female offspring are studied over a period of time to know whether they have matured into high milk-producing cows.
