The woman, identified as 45-year-old Premlata Sonawane, is a social activist from Sonala village of Buldhana district and for the past few years has been using different tactics to eradicate alcohol from the district.
In a move reminiscent of Dharmendra’s role in the epic movie Sholay, a Nagpur woman climbed atop a huge water tank in Laxmi Nagar of the city. Where Dharmendra’s character, Veeru, took a bottle of alcohol with him when he climbed up the tank, the woman’s intention was to grab public attention in order to eradicate alcohol from her district.

The woman, identified as 45-year-old Premlata Sonawane, is a social activist from Sonala village of Buldhana district and for the past few years has been using different tactics to eradicate alcohol from the district. However, so far the district administration has not paid any heed to her efforts.

Sonawane’s latest antic comes at a time when the Maharashtra assembly’s winter session is underway in Nagpur. Sonawane climbed atop the water tank today morning and began shouting that the local administration wasn’t doing enough to eradicate alcohol from Sonala village in Sangrampur Taluka of Buldhana district.

The police managed to bring her down from the water tank and placed her under arrest.
