Islamabad: Friday’s attack on Pakistan army air base that claimed at least 42 lives was planned, controlled and perpetrated from Afghanistan, Director General Inter Services Public Relations Major General Asim Salim Bajwa said on Saturday.

“A total of 23 Pakistan Air Force officials and three army personnel, including an officer and two soldiers, died in the attack by Pakistani Taliban guerrillas near Peshawar”, Radio Pakistan quoted Bajwa as saying.

The attack could possibly be a fallout of Operation Zarb-e-Azb that was being successfully carried out in North Waziristan, he added.

Bajwa said the operation against terrorists would continue till its logical end. Briefing over operation Zarb-e-Azb, Bajwa said that the intelligence-based operations were being carried out across the country to wipe out anti-state elements.
